Open Studios this Weekend on the Coastside!

The Coastside is at that delightful crossroad between Fall and Winter.  Our towns are brimming with activities and events –  and we love this most wonderful time of year at the Coast!  Now that we are settled into the new school year, we are all busy with studies, work, volunteering – and shopping.  Visitors are welcome, of course, and visit they do.  New merchandise is arriving, decorating evolves from pumpkins to evergreens and twinkling lights.

If you are hoping to find a uniquely coastal gift this weekend, check out Colony of Coastside Artists (COCA) Open Studios tomorrow and Sunday between 11am and 4pm each day.  Brochure with map is available at local HMB businesses, and also at the Library, 620 Correas St. at Church St. in downtown Half Moon Bay.

As you know if you have been reading this site, I only write about what I know, so here are a few of my favorite artists…

Julie Buelteman – Studio of Julie Buelteman, 848 Drake St. Montara.  Lots of people make jewelry, but Julie has a unique gift that is expressed in her final products.  If you visit, you may also get to see some personal pieces of her husband Robert Buelteman’s work, the renowned photographer and artist.

Carl Mehler – Photography.  The Studio of Carl Mehler, 712 Toulouse Court (Frenchman’s Creek).  Formerly involved with the Dunn-Mehler Gallery in Miramar years ago, Carl’s work is highly respected and worth a visit.

Chris Ridgway – Painting, Graphics.  Studio of Cris Ridgway, 670 Poplar St. (Arleta Park).  Treat yourself to the visual delight of your surroundings here.  Chris is also an architect and created this charming and unique storybook home.

Deborah Brown-Penrose – Photography.  Kelly Street Gallery, 751 Kelly St., Half Moon Bay (downtown).  You will also see her work in her downtown office where she works in her medical practice.

If you are also shopping for a new home…here are new listings to check out this weekend: [idx-listings linkid=”109195″]

Don’t forget the next great local shopping opportunity, the Chamber sponsored 13th Annual Night of Lights on Main Street.  December 7th from 6-9pm.  Look for sparking lights, enjoy the parade and listen for Santa’s Ho-Ho-Ho.  The shops will be open late!  A great evening to enjoy one of our fabulous downtown Half Moon Bay restaurants – get your reservation early.

Have a great weekend!
